After the obligatory snow photos I put a K1 extention ring on to my recently acquired Nikon 28mm F2 AI lens and came up with this:

Photocrati is the WordPress theme that this site runs on. Without the skills to code it myself, or the budget for a bespoke site I’ve been hunting for the perfect mix of photo portfolio and e-commerce for months. I’ve gone through various different combinations. But up until now the portfolio themes had no sales functions, and the e-commerce sites were all just store fronts unsuitable for displaying photos.

I also looked in to hosted services such as clikpic, livebooks etc. But those all have recurring fees of some sort. Some even have a hosting fee and also want a cut of any sales. One or the other I could understand, but both! In any case I already had some web space that was suitable for my needs, so paying for more hosting seemed a bit wasteful.

So far Photocrati is the only WordPress theme I’ve come across that is aimed at displaying photography/art that also combines ecommerce features suitable for selling prints.

It looks pretty slick and is easy to set up. If you can set up WordPress you can set up Photocrati. It’s got lots of options to fine tune the look of your site, and because it uses WordPress it’s easy to expand its functionality even further with plugins and widgets!

The other ad is for GiffGaff mobile phone network. I’ve been with them since last year and have never had a problem. On route we saw this ram watching us pass by:

Then back home in the evening we managed to catch a glimpse of the International Space Station flying over head.

Then on Sunday, inspired by The Great British Bake Off, we made Chocolate Roulade!

The first is of planes landing and taking off from the airport across the bay, the second is a man hand line fishing.

A week away starting tomorrow. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! We’re off to the seaside in the south of France. So you can expect plenty of photos of the sea and the beach upon my return.

Typically the weather there last week was solid sunshine, and next week, cloud and some rain for the first few days at least… At this rate we’re going to have to have a holiday in the desert in order to get some sunshine on a holiday it seems! Still, it should be nice and warm at any rate.
